Bolo is reshaping the way we think about takeaway. As consumers and businesses seek alternatives to single-use packaging, Bolo offers an elegant, sustainable solution: reusable bowls made from rice husk — a natural farming by-product — combined with organic plant starch to create a material that’s both durable and fully compostable at end-of-life.
Designed for repeated use, Bolo bowls are dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and ideal for everything from at-home dining and food storage to food halls and large-scale catering operations. With sustainability built into its core, Bolo represents a forward-thinking, circular approach to food packaging — where beauty and utility go hand in hand.
Our Role
Although the name “Bolo” had already been developed when we joined the project, we were brought on to define and deliver the brand from the ground up — building a cohesive and compelling identity around this innovative product. Our scope included:
Brand Strategy & Workshop
We led a collaborative brand workshop to clarify Bolo’s purpose, values, tone of voice, and competitive positioning — shaping a brand that balances environmental responsibility with everyday practicality.
Visual Identity
We created a brand identity that feels modern, minimal and grounded. The logo, typography, and colour palette are designed to reflect the product’s material qualities — natural, tactile, and honest — while standing out in a crowded eco-conscious market.
Brand Copy & Messaging
We developed the brand’s voice and crafted all copy, from tagline and tone to product descriptions and key messaging. The language is confident but accessible, informative without being preachy — mirroring the simplicity and utility of the product itself.
Photography & Art Direction
We art directed and produced a full suite of product photography that highlights the design, texture, and usability of Bolo bowls. The imagery is clean, soft, and lifestyle-driven, designed to sit comfortably in both commercial and home environments.
E-commerce Website
Finally, we designed and developed Bolo’s e-commerce platform — a streamlined, content-driven experience that brings the brand to life and makes it easy for customers to learn about and purchase the product. Built for scale and ease of use, the site is responsive, fast, and intuitive.
