SVENSKA KJ
Website design and development for one of Australia’s longest-established suppliers of premium interior textiles.
Svenska KJ has supplied premium upholstery, curtain and soft-furnishing textiles to Australia’s commercial and residential interiors market since 1961. Its extensive collection spans upholstery, curtains, high-performance fabrics, leather and vinyl, supported by strong technical knowledge and decades-long relationships with international textile mills.
Ludbrook Agency designed and developed a new website to make this considerable catalogue easier to search, compare and specify. With more than 3,000 products and numerous technical attributes, the project required far more than a conventional brochure site. The result is a visually refined digital catalogue, sample-ordering system and practical working resource for interior designers, architects, upholsterers and furniture manufacturers.

The Challenge
Making more than 3,000 textiles easy to find.
Svenska KJ’s product range is extensive and technically detailed. Visitors may search by fabric type, colour, composition, application, performance requirement, sustainability credentials or light filtration, often combining several criteria before selecting a product.
The challenge was to organise this information without making the website feel dense or complicated. A residential designer looking for a sheer curtain fabric has different priorities from a healthcare specifier searching for antimicrobial upholstery or a furniture manufacturer sourcing a durable commercial textile.
The website therefore needed the logic and filtering depth of a large product catalogue, while retaining the visual quality expected from specialist furniture website design and premium interiors brands.

The Approach
Designing around how materials are specified.
We began by examining how Svenska KJ’s customers actually search for textiles. Product selection is rarely based on appearance alone. Designers and specifiers need to assess colour, texture, composition, durability, environmental credentials, flame retardancy, acoustic performance and suitability for particular settings.
The website structure was built around these decisions. Clear product categories and detailed filters allow users to narrow the collection quickly while still browsing visually. Product pages bring imagery, specifications, available colours and sample ordering together in one place.
Rather than treating the website as an online look-book, we designed it as a working specification tool—one that supports the practical needs of interior designers, architects, furniture makers and commercial project teams.

The Website
A digital catalogue with an integrated sample cart.
The WordPress website brings Svenska KJ’s major product categories together within a consistent, searchable system. These include curtain and upholstery textiles, high-performance fabrics, leather and vinyl, along with specialist treatments and custom finishing services.
A sample cart allows visitors to select fabrics as they browse and submit a consolidated request to the Svenska KJ team. This removes the need to record product details separately or send multiple enquiries, making the process simpler for both customers and staff.
The website also accommodates detailed technical content, sustainability information, supplier histories, new collections and editorial articles. Svenska KJ can manage this material internally, add new ranges and adapt the catalogue as its collection develops.

The Outcome
A better tool for customers and the Svenska KJ team.
The completed website gives Svenska KJ a digital presence that matches the quality and scale of its collection. Customers can move from broad inspiration to detailed product assessment and sample selection within a single visit.
For the business, the new system provides a clearer way to manage thousands of products and communicate technical information across commercial and residential applications. It supports sales conversations while reducing friction in the early stages of research and specification.
